Rexall Solutions Isopropyl Alcohol 99% (IPA) is a high-purity, fast-evaporating solvent and cleaner. It dissolves oils and oil-based residues that water can't remove, and it evaporates quickly without leaving streaks or oily traces, so it's a common choice for cleaning electrical components where water poses a risk.
Common uses
- Electronics and manufacturing: cleaning and degreasing electrical equipment and components
- Automotive: removing wax and degreasing surfaces before paint or polishing; thinning resins
- Glass and hard surfaces: streak-free cleaning
- Laboratory: diluting and extracting, sample dehydration and preservation
- Extraction: dissolving oils, fats, flavours and waxes
- Formulation: ingredient in cleaners, sanitizers and personal care products
Intended use: To be used solely in a manufacturing or processing activity.
Sizes: 1 Qt (946 mL), 1 Gal (3.78 L) and 5 Gal (18.9 L). Made in Canada.
Safety: Read the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use and follow the label directions.
Frequently asked questions
Why use 99% IPA instead of 70%?
70% isopropyl alcohol is about 30% water. 99% IPA has very little water, so it evaporates faster and leaves no residue. That makes it the better choice for electronics, degreasing and surface prep.
Is 99% IPA safe for cleaning electronics?
It's widely used on electrical equipment and components. Switch the power off, clean, and let it evaporate completely before turning anything back on. Test on plastics and coatings first.
Can I use IPA to prep a car before painting or polishing?
Yes. It removes wax and degreases surfaces before paint or polishing.
Which size should I buy?
The 946 mL quart suits benches and small jobs, the 3.78 L gallon suits regular use, and the 18.9 L pail suits production and manufacturing.
Is it flammable?
Yes, IPA is highly flammable. Use it with good ventilation, away from heat, sparks and flame, and wear eye protection. Read the SDS before use. Request the SDS.
