Rexall Solutions Xylene Solvent & Thinner – 1 Qt / 1 Gal / 5 Gal, Made in Canada

Rexall Solutions Xylene is a versatile industrial solvent and thinner. Its slower evaporation rate gives it more working time than faster solvents, making it a strong choice for heavy-duty cleaning and degreasing.

Common uses

• Tool cleanup: cleans tools used with oil-based paint, varnish, polyurethane, lacquer and epoxy
• Degreasing: bare and painted metal parts
• Surface prep: cleaning new wood before finishing and oil coatings before refinishing
• Thinning: a common thinner for coatings
• Laboratory: removing paraffin from microscope slides, chemical reactions and dry-ice baths
• Blending: used in fuel, printing and other industrial blends

Sizes: 1 Qt (946 mL), 1 Gal (3.78 L) and 5 Gal (18.9 L). Made in Canada.

Safety: For professional use only. Read the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use and follow the label directions.

Frequently asked questions

What does xylene remove?

Xylene cleans oil-based paint, varnish, polyurethane, lacquer and epoxy from tools, and degreases bare and painted metal parts.

Why choose xylene over acetone or MEK?

Xylene evaporates more slowly, so it stays wet longer on the surface. That extra working time helps with heavy cleaning and degreasing.

Can I use xylene to prep wood before finishing?

Yes. It's used to clean new wood before finishing and oil coatings before refinishing. Test on a small area first.

Is xylene used in labs?

Yes. Labs commonly use it to remove paraffin from microscope slides, in chemical reactions and in dry-ice baths.

What safety precautions do I need?

Xylene is flammable and its vapours are harmful. Use it only with good ventilation, away from heat, sparks and flame, and wear chemical-resistant gloves and eye protection. Read the SDS before use. Request the SDS.
